Natural disasters such as floods, earthquake, tsunamis, or storms are catastrophic loss of human life, and affects infrastructure. Floods cause devastating effects on property, destruction of crops, loss of livestock and deterioration of health conditions owing to waterborne diseases. These disasters can also traumatise victims and their families for long period of time.

Similarly, the destructive effects of earthquakes cause landslides, tsunamis, fires and fault rupture. The violent shaking of the ground produces the greatest property and personal losses and injuries. In any of the above situation’s victims are required immediate relief and afterwards rehabilitation.

The 2022 floods submerged one third of the country, affecting 33 million people, half of them were children. The floods damaged most of the water systems in affected areas, forcing mostly population to rely solely on contaminated water from ponds and Wells. Unsafe water and poor sanitation are key underlying causes of malnutrition.

Kashmir International Relief Fund (KIRF) immediately arranged a team of volunteers with medical staff to travel to Rajanpur District. The team focused on the different villages of Union Council Janpur. Victims were provided medical treatment and meals for twelve days. Team has also arranged spray to kill mosquitos. The victims were provided mosquito nets and lotion to protect them from malaria .About 50 hand pumps were installed in different villages to provide clean drinking water and 50 families were provided a shelter of one constructed room to each family, with the financial support of donors.

Head of the team remained there for twenty-two days to facilitate the victims. During rehabilitation of flood affected people Secretary General KIRF Master Zulfiqar Ali also visited the affected area.
